Bianca Templar
Bianca Templar is the proud granddaughter of respected Elder and sheller, Aunty Gloria Templar, descendants of the Trawlwoolway and Plangermaireener people of Lutruwita.
Bianca’s grandmother was born and raised on Cape Barren Island. Bianca was enriched with stories of her grandmother’s life and music from her childhood. Her grandmother has always had a strong connection to country and an enriched cultural knowledge, which she has passed down to her family. As a small child, Bianca’s grandmother taught her how to shell, using rice shells and toothies. In the last 3 years, through encouragement from her Grandmother and Elders, Bianca has begun shelling again and moving into other practices, such as making coil baskets, water carriers and creating compensatory jewellery and paintings utilising the petroglyphs of the palawa people.
Bianca is lucky to come from a family of such creativity, with her grandmother being a sheller, her father Brett Templar being a known poet and actor, as well as her older brother, Tristan Templar, being a portrait artist.
Her grandmother and grandfather, Paul Green, have always encouraged her to be strong in who she is, proud of were she comes from and keep culture continuing.
